What can I expect at the Competition Day? Attendees can expect the following: Receive information about CMU's more than academic programs at the bachelor's, master's, specialist and doctoral levels, including nationally ranked programs.
Competitors will have one hour to complete a timed essay in response to a prompt given on site. Parents will participate in special programming during the essay portion of the day, that includes opportunities to speak with a panel of CMU professionals. Opportunity to embark on a campus tour and enjoy refreshments following the competition.

My credentials are very close to the minimum criteria, but either my GPA or standardized test score fell short of the minimum criteria…Can I still register to compete? Generally no, however some limited exceptions to the established criteria may be permitted.

You eventually will be required to have your test scores officially sent to CMU for verification. Keep in mind that by the competition day you must have verifiable proof to CMU that you meet the minimum qualifications or your scholarship application materials will not be reviewed.
I have commitments on the two competition days. Is there an alternative day to compete? It is to a student's strong advantage to attend one of the two competitions as the opening remarks made at the competition provide context and themes for students to draw from when writing their competition essay.
In addition, students will have the chance to meet with and hear from Honors staff and students first-hand. I registered, but need to switch to a different competition date. What are my next steps?
